This is an open letter to the special snowflakes at McMasters University. It is also aimed at PACBIC who released a crackpot statement about the event, demonstrating their lack of common sense and logical thinking. Before you activate your special victim superpowers the next time, a suggestion would be to listen and to actually understand the arguments first.
Watching the latest of Dr. Jordan Petersons talks, a few things became apparent. For starters, Dr. Peterson is a hero. I would even go as far as to say that he is the modern “Tank Man of Tiananmen Square” as he stand up against the tyranny of oppression, fueled by your illogical hate. And he is doing it without poisoning the debate; his arguments are on-topic, sensible and verifiable. When your crew of misfits try to cause disturbance, he keeps talking, maintaining a calm voice, and makes you appear as the infantile children you are.

The cesspool of ignorance that is BuzzFeed has done it again. “Three women experience what it’s like to manspread and take up space for one week” is the subject of a video posted a month ago, lowering the bar even more if that is even possible. The article can be found here but if you want to watch the actual video you have to do so on YouTube. They have disabled embedding for the video, meaning it won’t even play on their own site. They have also disabled comments, so for those you need to visit the article. Geniuses at work, obviously.

It is just starting to become clear just how fucked up the US elections was this year. Not that any election really is a bundle of happy ecstasy, but this one was something special.
Trumps motivation is obviously the same as it has always been; money. The names he has picked from his hat so far emphasize this. Just look at Myron Ebell, another climate change denier with a major in philosophy and no scientific education whatsoever.

At first I thought Julie was trolling when I watched her video on why we should bring back DDT to combat Zika. Sadly, I don’t think she is, so yet again I shall have the honor of shooting down her argument. This is a whole new level of stupid tho.
For me, getting my facts straight is at the core. I will not post anything in any form argumenting something that I have no clue about. However, it seems Julie sets the standards much much lower. You should go watch the video here before you read on. Wearing a tin foil hat while watching is strongly recommended.

The stupid is strong with this one… Julie Borowski just uploaded a video on how killing coal is a bad thing. She apparently comes from a long lineage of coal miners, so she gets how important coal is to fight poverty and put food on the table. And in the process, she fails to see the whole picture.
I guess the feedback on that video got a bit heated, as she disabled the comments within a few hours of uploading. She has since re-enabled them, which she deserves a gold star for. That does not however make her argument any more valid.

The ignorance around cryptography is mindblowing… This is a quote from a RawStory article:
Investigators looking into the deadly shooting in San Bernardino, California last week have found built-in encryption in the phones of the two shooters, Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, authorities told CBS News on Friday. The news comes a day after lawmakers said there wasn’t any evidence that they had used encryption technology.
Newsflash: Encryption is built into every phone, every computer, and pretty much everything else. If something isn’t encrypted, it means that practically anyone could sniff it. Your phone most likely encrypt your 3G and 4G traffic (not so much 2G/GSM tho), and if you are connected over WiFi that too is encrypted. The updates to your computer are (hopefully) downloaded over a encrypted connection to make sure that nobody has hijacked the update process and feeding you malware or trojans instead. Encryption is everywhere! It is the tech equivalent of a lock on the front door!
This entire crypto debate is flawed, in that banning or somehow enforcing weakened of broken encryption will only hurt regular people who rely on it every day to read e-mails, communicate with friends and family, and doing banking online. If someone thinks that only the good guys will have access to any back doors or weak spots, that’s just naive.
